St. Florian

The most exciting part about our trip to the mostestary here was getting to see the paintings by Altdorf. They are in excellent condition and haven't been restored. Only cleaned.

Altdorf completed these paintings in a time before artists signed their works. But the reason we can tell these paintings are by Altdorf is that he painted himself in his works. He is part of the Danube school. Which means he painted his works in efforts to make the common people understand. Like having the background be Vienna, or the enemies dressed in Turkish clothing. It was pretty cool to see these in real life. Gothic painting isn't a style that I normally like, but I've come to appreciate how the artists painted in such a way to appeal to the common people so that they could understand the Bible.
