Schonbrunn, Guys& Dolls, and Roman Ruins

So of course I would forget my camera on the day we go to Schonbrunn! That's just a brilliant excuse to go back though!

Schonbrunn is the summer palace of the Hapsburgs. Marie Theresa lived there. And the last Emporer of the dynasty died there, Franz Josef. It was spectacular. I'm not sure words can describe! A lot of it was built in the Barouqe style because Marie Theresa was the one who remodeled the place from a hunting lodge to a palace. Utter decadance is basically the best descriptors. I got to see the inner apartments of the royal family. I have a new fascination with Franz Josef's wife, Elizabeth. She was stabbed to death by an Italien. We're visiting her private winter apartments soon.

I got to see Guys & Dolls at the Volksoper last night. Amazing!!! i had stehplatz, which was difficult. especially after walking around all day. It was in german. I got the jist of it... The program is paying for at least three more operas. Probably more. But I really want to see Madame Butterfly. Look it up on youtube!

Today we went to Carnuntum... The first tour was allll in German. Ein bisschen lanweilig.... aber es war sehr interessant weil ich hat viel uber die Roman gelearnt. Carnuntum was an outpost town for the Roman empire. There were about 50,000 people living there. Ever seen Gladiator? ("you know what's better than Gladiator? Winnie the Pooh and the honey tree"-Daniel)... that's carnuntum!!! It's pretty much like every Roman town then. advanced with an amphitheater. Which we watched the guys wrestle in...

So I don't know.. Not super detailed. But that's what I've been up to for the last couple of days!
